PWWA ‘Champions United’ Review/Thoughts

On Saturday night PWWA held their Champions United show at The Roxy in Parramatta. I had been eagerly anticipating this event since my first PWA experience, so I happily took work off & made the 1.5 hour drive, and am even happier to say I was not disappointed.

The matches on the card were very impressive from top to bottom. Shazza McKenzie was a great start to the show and immediately had the crowd buzzing.

I was disappointed to learn that Jessie McKay had injured her ankle but her scheduled opponent Eliza Sway still impressed in her impromptu tag-team match. Eliza is another of the girls that I am very keen to see more of, particularly if she ever faces Madison Eagles, I can see these two women putting on a very physical match that would rival any male match.

KC Cassidy vs Storm

Was also a very entertaining match and I believe both of these girls have bright futures in the business, they are both very attractive, have great charisma and can back it up inside the ring physically. So keep an eye on these two moving up the card or internationally.

Kellie Skater vs Kellyanne English

This was another great back and forth match with Kellyanne getting the upset victory over Skater. Since watching this match I have since learned that these two are now one win a piece setting up a very intriguing 3rd match to settle who is the better of these two. Kellie Skater once again proved why she is a champion in Shimmer and I hope she gets an opportunity to showcase her talent to a bigger audience in the future.

Savannah Summer & Blair Alexis vs Demi Bennett & Izzy

This was great outing for Izzy & Demi ,with Izzy overcome a lot of punishment to get the hot tag to Demi who then cleaned house and scored the victory with a missile dropkick. Hopefully we will get to see more of these two on future PWWA cards. Izzy vs Shazza could be a very entertaining match and Demi, with her height, could take on the likes of Madison Eagles or Eliza Sway and maybe even Jessie McKay would also be entertaining matches.

Madison Eagles vs Evie

As I said on Twitter after the show this match was worth the price of admission alone. These two ladies put on an amazing performance battling all over the Roxy, Evie hit a cross body off of the stage and Madison was thrown up the stairs in the aisle way between seats. The action in this match had me forgetting at times that this was a Women’s match they were hitting so hard. The match ended with Evie hitting a double foot stomp off the top rope to claim the victory and thus drop the “interim” tag and become the new undisputed PWWA Women’s Champion.

After the show a majority of the roster came out to greet the fans and sign autographs/take pictures, which was a great experience that you can only get at indy wrestling shows.

Following this event I can now safely say I have found the wrestling company that I will be supporting very closely and will be attending as many shows as I can. I now can’t wait for the next PWA show on the 31st of August and for the next PWWA show to be announced.

I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on the show in the comments below or via Twitter, you can follow me @Appsy_JAM
