The Used – Imaginary Enemy
Originally published on AltMedia
Imaginary Enemy, the sixth album by The Used, comes with the tagline “a rallying cry for social conscience, to get noses out of smart phones,” and doesn’t waste any time taking this political stance.
Opening track Revolution along with A Song To Stifle Imperial Progression and Cry all do a fine job of combining punk-rock guitar and drum lines with catchy pop lyrics and synth sounds that will be stuck in heads after just a few listens.
Fans of The Used should heed caution with this album as it is a departure from their emo-punk roots into a more poppy alternative rock direction.
