Die! Die! Die! – S W I M

Originally published on Alt Media

S W I M (an internet acronym for Someone Who Isn’t Me) is a post-punk album that is both unrelenting and unforgiving in its nature with heavy baselines, jarring guitars and frantic drumming.

This is combined with interesting uses of noise, such as feedback, to create a sweaty basement mosh-pit atmosphere whilst somehow maintaining attractive catchy melodies throughout.

Out Of Mind and Get Hit perfectly exemplify this punk sound, whereas in contrast Crystal provides some breathing room as an instrumentally focused track that still holds onto the overall atmosphere created.

By far the best song of the record is Don’t Try as it manages to blend all styles seamlessly.
