The Rise Of Jordan Peterson
Since rocketing to infamy in 2016 thanks to his divisive Youtube series of videos titled Professor Against Political Correctness Jordan B Peterson has certainly drawn a reaction from across the political spectrum.
Whilst everybody seemingly has an opinion about Peterson’s philosophies very few know the man on an intimate level. Patricia Marcoccia’s new fly on the wall style documentary, The Rise Of Jordan Peterson, looks to change that by providing an intimate look inside the life of one of the world’s most controversial figures.
Throughout the film, Marcoccia provides a refreshingly balanced approach to formulating and understanding of the man and his philosophies. The film is given rare access inside Peterson’s inner circle as the viewer hears from his wife, daughters, parents and peers (both past and present).
Conversely, the film isn’t afraid to speak with some of Peterson’s greatest detractors. Perhaps the most shocking example of this being the college professor her gave Peterson his first teaching role.
For those viewers unfamiliar with Peterson’s work the documentary provides just enough background to understand the major issues at hand. However, it may have helped to give more detail in regards to Peterson’s current platform and works.
Overall this is a very fair and balanced documentary. Although it wouldn’t have hurt to dive even deeper into both sides of this highly polarising figure.
