In Hearts Wake - Kaliyuga

2020 has already been filled with catastrophe after catastrophe, whether that be deadly bushfires, a global pandemic and now floods. With mother nature seemingly fighting back it seems fitting that Byron Bay's earth consciousness metal band In Hearts Wake have delivered their latest record Kaliyuga this year.

Opening track Crisis features samples from climate activist Greta Thunberg's now infamous UN speech, which sets the tone for the remainder of the record. Throughout the record In Hearts Wake explore themes of environmental activism while also including occasional introspection about their hopes for the future. The latter of which being the high points of Kaliyuga.

During the record In Hearts Wake deliver traditional heavy metal rock elements interspersed with soaring vocal melodies and stirring guest spots.

Overall Kaliyuga is another fantastic record, but also one which will likely divide fans given the hype levels built ahead of its release.
