Aston

Whilst singer-songwriter Aston is only now stepping into the spotlight with her debut self-titled EP she is no newcomer to music. Aston has been involved in the music scene in one way or another for the majority of her life.

Speaking to Pario Aston explained that over the last few years, she has been working behind the scenes writing music for film, television, advertising & other artists.

Perhaps Aston's biggest achievement in this behind-the-scenes capacity was having one of her tracks selected for the soundtrack of the film Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. Even if it was not her favourite track at the time.

"It seems that sometimes it's not the songs that you love the most that do the best," explained Aston. "Honestly, I didn't think much of the song that was included in the movie, I actually hated it, but it's been a good omen for what is to come."

Looking back over the early stages of her career it was obvious that Aston was destined for big things. Before she was even 18 years old Aston had already performed in 2 venues which many artists can only ever dream of, those venues being the Sydney Opera House & the Sydney Entertainment Centre. When reflecting on her performance at the Sydney Opera House Aston said, "I had never heard anything so insane! You don't get those experiences every day so it's important to take it in. At the same time though I was having a full out-of-body experience, so I had to really think about it once I got off stage."

Despite all of these early successes behind the scenes Aston was driven to pursue more. This has now led to her realisation that it was "now or never" for her to release her own music.

"Up until now I've never had a song that I was entirely proud of like I am for these songs on the EP," Aston told Pario. "I think as a collective these songs are about growing & having experiences that are out of your comfort zone... I felt like my life before writing these songs was so focused on music that I had no personal life at all. So when I decided to let myself go & chose to not care for just a moment that was when I had the best ideas popping into my head because I was actually experiencing life & making horrific mistakes that I was able to learn from... You can write about love or heartbreak but experiencing that for yourself makes it much easier to write honest music & the process becomes really therapeutic."

As she now looks ahead with Australia slowly returning to normal as restrictions ease Aston is excited to once again step on stage.

"I feel like I've been waiting for this opportunity for years! Live is probably the place where I am the most comfortable. I can't wait to craft something that is unique, memorable & true to myself as an artist."
