Beetlejuice The Musical

Armed with our handbook for the recently deceased, we’re diving in & giving you our review of the US tour of Beetlejuice The Musical.

I was lucky enough to attend the last Orlando show of the Broadway smash hit, & I can’t say enough good things about it. Never in a million years did I think Tim Burton’s cult classic would come to life in a Broadway show, but this was next level.

In this show, we’re taken through scenes of the movie, alongside a soundtrack that is nothing short of amazing. Taking jabs at our current state of affairs in Florida, like making jokes about certain political parties as well as limitations on books in public schools, the audience was laughing & smiling the entire time. I applaud the entire cast that was in our show, Lydia Deetz portrayed by Isabella Esler, & the host with the most, Beetlejuice, played by Justin Collette, absolutely killed it in the lead roles. The 2 performers really embodied the characters that I fell in love with growing up. With this run of performances being Isabella’s professional debut, she especially knocked it out of the park & made a connection with the audience that was outstanding.

Let’s not forget just how large this production is. Between costume changes & props, the largest being a life-sized Sandworm, they spared no expense. The creative minds behind this show really went all out.

I first came to learn about this show in 2019 & was so excited with major hopes that it would do a country-wide tour. Then, COVID struck & everything came to a halt. After being on Broadway for less than a year I came to the conclusion that the show would never make a comeback. Much to my surprise, & excitement, in April of 2022, the crowds must have spoken his name 3 times in a row, unbroken of course, & suddenly the show was back & better than ever. With its continuing success at the Marquis Theater, they took the show on the road and started a US tour in December 2022. Every show that came to my town sold out so fast that it broke the website, so when I say try your hardest to get in, I mean it. You’ll have to wait a while, as the Australian tour is set to debut in Melbourne at the Regent Theatre in April of 2025, but in the meantime, you can check out the soundtrack of the original production, on Spotify.
