Coyle Girelli's Favourite Australian Tracks of 2022

While gearing up for the release of his new single, True Love Forever, Coyle Girelli recently spoke with Pario about his favourite Australian tracks from 2022.

Song Goes On (feat Coyle Girelli) - Keli Holiday

This is a tune I did with Keli Holiday. We wrote it a while ago when I was working with Adam and Reuben on some Peking Duk stuff and I’m thrilled with how it came out.

I love those lads and really dig both of their solo projects. Adam came and spent some time with me here in NY last year and we worked on a bunch more Keli stuff. Really dig the vibe and sound he’s created with this project. There are some absolute tunes in there! The whole thing also feels kinda Northern English to me which as a Northern Englishman, makes it literally right up my street. Big fan.

Lots of Nothing - Spacey Jane

I got served this one up on Spotify one day and was instantly into it. As often happens when I get served something I’m into I dived into a bit of a rabbit hole and really loved everything I heard. I love those jangly guitars and Britpop feeling to the vocals. It also feels very English to me. I like that there seems to be a hint of 90s Britpop creeping into a lot of stuff at the moment. The world needs more rock bands so bring it on! The more the merrier. Thanks, Spacey Jane! Keep doing your thing.

Lydia Wears a Cross - Julia Jacklin

I’ve been a big fan of Julia Jacklin for a while and I’m always excited to hear whatever she creates. Her new album was brilliant as ever - clever lyrics, tasteful production and songwriting and a beautiful vocal.

Where is my Brain??? - The Lazy Eyes

I can’t remember where I first discovered these guys but I was instantly hooked. Kinda psychedelic, with Beatles, Elliot Smith, and Tame Impala feel to it all. And any time someone can make a wah pedal feel cool it’s worth a round of applause. There are some really fantastic moments when the band just groove.

The angel of 8th ave - Gang of Youths

I love the sound Gang of Youths make. Big, rich sounding, driving, rock n roll, pounding bass, jangly acoustics, 80s keyboard line, great lyrics. What is not to love?! The latest album, Angel In Realtime, might be their best yet.
