Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness

Director Sam Raimi returns to the comic book movie realm with his vision for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) entry, Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness.

With the MCU now in Phase 4 of its story arches many viewers had noted a predictability & formulaic nature to the film. However, with films like Guardians Of The Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarock & now Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness that formula has been shattered. MCU head Kevin Feige has now clearly shifted his vision to allow directors to inject their own signature flair to the film, which is a very big positive.

Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness is a quintessential Sam Raimi film filled with weirdness. This film takes the MCU in its most violent & horror-inspired direction to date. Whilst the film is clearly influenced by horror it never becomes scary, it is still a superhero film after all, but it certainly has creepy moments.

Story wise Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness stand on its own two feet as movie, but is certainly aided if you have prior knowledge of the Disney+ series WandaVision. The film sees Doctor Strange & Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlett Witch each searching through the multiverse to find the missing elects to restore the multiverse to harmony.

Along the journey through multiple universes Doctor Strange encounters a bevy of character, some of which are making their debut in the MCU. During these moments Danny Elfman's score does a fantastic job in elevating the hype of these cameos.

Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness is by no means a perfect film, the script & dialogue at times if quite corny & the stakes in various universes seems non-existent. In saying that though Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness is a thrilling ride throughout & opens up the possibilities for many exciting moments in future MCU films.
