Women's wrestling has certainly come a long way in the last 2 decades. In the attitude era of the late 90s-early 00s, you would be hard-pressed to find a women's wrestling match that wasn't depicted as either a 'bra & panties', 'cat-fight', or mud wrestling match. These days women are placed in physical, athletic spectacles which often rival, or in some cases out class, their male counterparts.

Here in Australia, the women's wrestling revolution has been taking place for much longer, with the likes of Madison Eagles, Michelle K Hasluck, & Shazza McKenzie leading the way. These days the Australian scene is littered with incredible talents all around the country. One such talent is Perth's Edith Night, who is happy to see the evolution of the industry.

"I still watch a lot of old RAW & Smackdown shows & it's crazy seeing the difference in the women's matches from then to now," said Edith. "Watching those old lingerie matches reminds me of how I felt really uncomfortable at wrestling shows when I was younger. These days though we can just get in there & wrestle & that's it. It has come a long way that's for sure."

When Edith began her training in Explosive Pro Wrestling (EPW) there still weren't a lot of women training or performing on the shows, "there were actually a few shows where there were no women wrestling at all" she recalled. Given this Edith has set herself the goal of ensuring that this never happens again.

"My intention has always been to simply help the local scene. I want to ensure there are always women wrestlers around... Then down the line, I want to be the first woman to win a singles title in EPW."

Before the pandemic, Edith was just beginning to expand her horizons by venturing across to the east coast of Australia, which was a "big jump" for her.

"I first went to NSW with less than 6 matches under my belt, so I was definitely fresh, but the response there was awesome. Lots of people in the crowd booed me, which was a bit mean but also to be expected," Edith said. "I was very glad that I managed to travel to the east coast & do some very cool things. It was a shame that all had to stop, because I felt like I had a lot of momentum & motivation after those shows."

During the pandemic quarantine period Edith, ever the tactician, has been planning her comeback & has even found some new targets to set her sights on.

"In EPW I would love to wrestle some of my coaches such as, Davis Storm or Gavin McGavin. "Unfortunately I'm friends with all of them so I've got no beef with them to fight about... yet. Outside of Perth, I was very lucky to wrestle Kellyanne & Shazza McKenzie, those matches were huge for me. "Sydney also has people like Jessica Troy & Steph De Lander that I'd love to have a bit of a wrestle with."
