Jack Raymond - Wide Eyes

Australian singer Jack Raymond's new single, Wide Eyes, is a soulful yet upbeat fusion of folk & Americana.

Wide Eyes is a multifaceted & complexly layered single. In saying that though the single remains incredibly accessible. You could throw this on while drinking a morning coffee & easing into the day, or you can really dig into the song, much like we did. Wide Eyes is nuanced enough for both situations.

When we first hit play on Wide Eyes we were immediately drawn in by the masterful guitar work of Raymond. However, once his powerful voice kicked in we were captivated.

Raymond's voice is gritty, raspy & emotive. Just as you would hope for from a bluesy, Americana artist. Underpinning the vocals though is a strong sense of storytelling that transports you to a crispy, clear sunrise in the countryside.

While Raymond's voice imbues the single with emotion & soulfulness his guitar work delivers the energy. Wide Eyes manages to avoid the pitfall of becoming a sullen, blues-heavy Americana track & instead is incredibly upbeat. So much so we could easily envision a crowd dancing around to this single on a summer night while throwing back a few whiskeys.

Wide Eyes is a special single from a special artist & it is most certainly worth the listen.
