RODECaster Pro II

In the worlds of podcasting, live streaming & even working from home everybody has realised the importance of high-quality audio. For Australian audio brand RØDE, this has been at the core of their entire company from day one. This year RØDE took the next step in its audio journey with the release of the second iteration of its RODECaster Pro II Integrated Audio Production Studio.

Aesthetically the RODECaster Pro II is a minor but noticeable upgrade to the original RODECaster Pro. Just the form factor of the RODECaster Pro II has a smaller footprint on your desk. The slightly elevated & tilted touchscreen is a small change but makes it so much easier to see while you are recording/streaming.

The unit features six channel faders & 8 fully customisable SMART Pads, which can be used for pre-recorded intro/outros, sound effects or even as MIDI controls.

On the backside of the unit, there are 4 XLR connections, 6 headphone jacks, 2 USB-C ports, an ethernet port & the entire unit is powered by a USB-C power adapter.

Combining the RODECaster Pro II with your XLR Microphone of choice you'll immediately be able to get great results. Thanks to the pre-set audio setting for some of the most popular microphones on the market, including non-rode microphones such as the SHURE SM7B.

For a lot of people, a simple USB microphone will be sufficient for all of your Zoom meetings. But for those of us who want to take our audio to the next level, the RODECaster Pro II is the ultimate solution. By combing the abilities of an audio mixer, a recorder & a digital audio interface all into one machine RODE have created a special piece of tech.

I've used my unit (provide by RODE for the purpose of this review) to record multiple podcasts remotely & created a bunch of YouTube videos with my audio being delivered to my computer via the RODECaster Pro II. I've also recorded podcasts live in person with a guest recording directly to the RODECaster Pro II's onboard SD Card slot. Every one of these experiences has been incredibly easy to do & has always worked great.
