What So Not - Anomaly
The Australian electronic music scene has been taking over the genre on a global scale, but one man in particular has been ate the forefront of that charge. What So Not, aka Chris Emerson, is someone who many an Australian producer has looked up to over the years & now he is back with his sophomore album, Anomaly.
Across the 11 track offering Emerson has delivered a diverse array of soundscapes, each with multitudes of layers & depth to the beats & melodies. Production wise What So Not shifts been traditional EDM through to drum & bass to dubstep to grime on Anomaly. Each song on Anomaly feels unique but also consistent with an overall style, highlighting the incredible talent of Emerson.
When this detailed production is then combined with a plethora of superstar collaborators such as DMA's, Herizen, Enschway & MØ, Anomaly delivers a listening experience which will undoubtably redefine the direction of Australian electronic music.
Typically in our music reviews we would pull out a couple of standout tracks but that is just so hard to do with this record. If we desperately had to choose we would suggest Halifax (Featuring Phi11a, Zoid Land & Tek Genesis), Messin' Me Up (Featuring Evan Giia), Bad Piano (Featuring Body Ocean & Lucy Lucy), & Mercy (Featuring MØ).
