An Indy Wrestling Fans Adventure Filled Weekend

This past weekend I decided to make a trip to Canberra to see Insaneasylum 13, I also figured that whilst I was there I should make a real trip of it and visit family. So that meant this trip turned into a 557km adventure over two days.

The monotony of the landscape/highway on this trip, as shown in some of the pictures below, was combatted with Redbull and podcasts.

The trip became a full wrestling indulgence for me as I stocked up my iPod with podcasts such as; Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling, The Steve Austin Show & Marty De Rosa’s Wrestling With Depression.

After arriving in Canberra I visited my family there and then made my way to the event. I hate to say it but this was the worst indy wrestling event I’ve been too. The organisation of the card was sloppy and seemed like they were trying to cram too many matches into one night. Also when the most memorable moment for my cousin ,who isn’t normally a wrestling fan, is winning a raffle to get a DVD and T-Shirt there is something wrong with the booking.

The in ring work was unfortunately not much better, aside from two matches. The match between Adam Asixx vs Mr Saturday Night and Niki Nitro’s match were the only two worth remembering.

Asixx, who I had seen wrestle previously and was the main reason I attended this event, was very impressive and always manages to elicit a good response from the crowd, I can seeing him doing quiet well in the business.

Niki Nitro’s match was surprisingly good, despite her seemingly getting an injury during the bout, which took some of the steam out of the match. I would be very interested to see her wrestle again.

The following day I began my journey home, first stopping to check out my childhood home, which brought back so many good memories.

I then made my way over to Braidwood to visit my Dad’s grave, something I always do when I am in Canberra since I don’t get the opportunity to visit very often.

I then made my way down to Nowra to visit my Mum and catch up with her & my Grandparents before heading home.

Overall despite a disappointing wrestling show I had a great weekend away & really enjoyed getting some time to indulge in my passion for wrestling.

Thanks for reading and I would love to hear the thoughts of anyone else that attended Insaneasylum 13 in the comments below or via Twitter @Appsy_JAM
