PWA Big Trouble in Little Campbelltown Review/Thoughts

On Friday night I was able to attend my first independent wrestling show in almost a year. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the show, both production and in-ring wise.

For me there were four standout matches or moments on the card:

1. Bishop Sommers vs The Blue Oni

This was a good match but for me the most interesting point came after the match with Sommers’ promo. The storyline of PWA being a sick company and Sommers’ plans to cure it was very intriguing to me and I look forward to seeing this develop on future shows.

2. PWWA Interim Title Match – Evie (C) vs Kellie Skater vs Jessie McKay

Having grown used to some poor quality women’s matches on both WWE & TNA I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how physical and technically sound these three girls were in this match. The performance these girls, along with Madison Eagles earlier, has even encouraged me to attend my first all women’s promotion on 3rd August to see Evie and Madison Eagles battle to unify the PWWA Championship.

3. PWA Heavyweight Championship Match – Robbie Eagles (C) vs Jonah Rock

This was the best match in my opinion in terms of in-ring performance with both men hitting hard and using a very physical style with multiple near falls that had the audience captivated.

4. Madison Eagles & Mick Moretti vs “The Hive” Bee Boy & Mantis

This was the most surprising and captivating match for me, particularly due to the performance of Madison Eagles. Whilst I had read about Madison prior to attending the show, to get myself a little acquainted with the performers and the product, all of which was good and had given me a high expectations she managed to out do those expectations. Madison’s performance both in the ring and her ability to connect with the crowd are phenomenal and it’s easy to see why she was voted #1 in the PWI top 50 women’s wrestlers of 2011.

After attending this show I am looking forward to attending more PWA & PWWA shows, they have now become my favourite Australian promotion by far.

I would love to hear thoughts from anybody else that attended the show via Twitter @Appsy_JAM or n the comments below.

Thanks for reading.
