Circa Waves – Young Chasers

UK four-piece deliver a debut album sun filled surfy pop-rock, with some stellar standout moments but with one drawback.

Full of bubbly duelling guitars and catchy lyrical hooks throughout, the group has a clearly defined cohesive sound that is geared perfectly to their chosen indie pop-rock audience. The greatest examples of this being the tracks T-Shirt Weather, Stuck In My Teeth and Fossils.

The only problem with the album is the lack of variation in the sound and tone of the tracks which creates a sense of repetitiveness. The two tracks My Love and Deserve This, attempt a different sound: a very nice, stripped back, calm sound.

Overall, this is a nice first outing, but would have been better served as a more filtered six-track EP. The future looks bright though.
