Soul
In Pixar's latest heartfelt film offering Soul follows a middle-age music teacher comes to question the biggest question conceivable to human kind, what is the meaning and purpose of life?
Joe Gardner (voiced by Jamie Foxx) is a middle-school band teacher who's life is ended abruptly, just as he gets his big break as a jazz musician. As he then enters into the afterlife he begins to ponder the universities big question as he seeks to return to his body. However, that won't be easy as he is tasked with guiding 22 (voiced by Tina Fey), an unborn soul who is yet to find her "spark" as she searches for a reason for living.
The film is filled with compelling music, a compelling lead in Joe and is visually beautiful. Overall Soul is an incredibly heartfelt film, with an incredibly deep theme and message at its core. However, while the film has very philosophical undertones it fails to reach the emotional resonance of its predecessors (Inside Out and Up as the two most prominent examples).
