Anthony Callea

When we were first introduced to a young Anthony Callea 17 years ago on Australian Idol we all come together to witness the rise of a new superstar. Now that once young man has grown up & is again helping to bring us together again as a nation emerging from a difficult 18 months. When Anthony Callea began planning his tour there were two words that immediately came to the forefront as a title, & hence the Together Again tour was born.

"I wanted something that encapsulated the past 18 months & that idea of coming Together Again as a nation to support each other was captured perfectly in those two very powerful words," said Callea. "I'm so grateful to be able to walk back on stage again."

During the time away from the stage Callea kept himself busy writing new music, creating viral lip sync videos with husband Tim Campbell, & filming the upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice Australia.

When asked about the inspiration for the lip sync videos Callea let out a hearty chuckle before answering, "boredom & drinking at home." These simple boredom killers quickly went viral & as Callea told Pario they have now changed how people interact with him.

"It's hilarious because now when I walk down the street it's not 'Anthony we love your voice' it's 'Anthony we love your lip sync videos'. So they definitely made an impact."

Of the videos Anthony & Tim have made together there were 3 in particular that Callea said stood out as favourites, "the Schitt's Creek, The Real Housewives Of Melbourne & Murial's Wedding videos were our favourites. We even learned the actual dance from Murial's Wedding, so that shows how much time we had on our hands."

The other big part of Callea's life in the past 18 months has been returning to the world of reality TV with the Celebrity Apprentice Australia. When reflecting back on that experience, as well as his previous reality TV experience on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Callea explained that the word "bizarre" sums them up perfectly.

"Both of those experiences were completely bizarre for me," Callea said. Celebrity Apprentice was bizarre because it was filmed during the height of COVID lockdowns whereas I'm A Celebrity was bizarre because they "threw me right into the deep end in the African jungle for 6 weeks."

Whist Callea explained both of those experiences were "really testing" he is glad he did them.

"My fondest memory of TV aside from Idol was definitely I'm A Celebrity. Would I do it again? Probably not, but it's something I still look back on fondly & I left with some great friends."

In closing Callea implored Australians to support any & all live music & performance, even if that isn't his show.

"It's so important, now more than ever. Please buy tickets to these concerts & shows because you're also helping to get the crew, the theatres, the ushers, & the support staff back into jobs."
