Cloe Wilder - I Spent My Summer On The Road

The last few years have seen the indie-pop scene undergoing a metamorphosis, due in large part to the unbridled success of Taylor Swift. This new pop era now embraces wistful, ethereal, folk sensibilities but keeps the undeniable catchiness of pop. I Spent My Summer On The Road by Floridian singer-songwriter Cloe Wilder is just the latest example of this new wave of beautiful music.

Across its 5 tracks, I Spent My Summer On The Road winds its way through a diverse range of styles. Each song is as catchy & memorable as the last. Whether it be the folk-imbued ballad that is Afterglow, the raw bedroom pop of Little White Pills or the romantic & celestial sounding Five Years every song on the EP has a purpose & voice all to itself.

Cloe's performances throughout the EP are unforgettable. At only 17 years of age, Cloe's writing evokes such incredible emotion & wisdom, so much so you quickly forget just how young she is. I only wish there were more than just the 5 songs here.

I Spent My Summer On The Road is a coming-of-age tale that obviously takes inspiration from the likes of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Ray, & Bon Iver but it's not simply a fan mimicking her idols. Cloe has a voice all of her own that is sure to see her become a huge pop star in the years to come.
