Dooms Children
When I learned of a new project involving Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire fame I was immediately intrigued. This new project, Dooms Children, is set to arrive on the scene with a self-titled EP on October 20, which Pario was fortunate enough to be given early access to for the purpose of this review.
Upon hitting play on Dooms Children for the first time I was somewhat taken aback by the sonic wave that swept over me. Rather than delivering the heavy post-hardcore sound that Alexisonfire is synonymous with MacNeil takes this project into an entirely different direct. Dooms Children is a much softer & more emotional style which veers more towards rock, blues & psychedelic-rock.
Much like me if you are drawn into Dooms Children through a familiarity with MacNeil this album could be jarring. However, if you can persevere to give it time to develop in in your mind you will find a very nuanced & special record.
For new listeners this is a fantastic entry point to the artistry of MacNeil, which could potentially see an entirely new fanbase discovering a love of post-hardcore when they dig into his MacNeil’s discography.
