Nat Dekker (Dekkorate & Dance)

Nat Dekker - Dekkorate & Dance

Growing up in Nowra Nat Dekker was always known as the "pocket rocket" who was brimming with energy. Inside though Nat lacked a sense of direction in regards to where she wanted to go in life. That was until she moved away from Nowra & realised she had a love for making people happy via event planning.

With her new found passion Nat's life found direction & saw her establish her own event planning business, Dekkorate & Dance.

Nat's journey began when she moved to Hamilton Island to work in resorts. It was there that Nat first began to witness what goes on behind the scenes of running major events.

Once Nat's time on Hamilton Island came to an end she moved to Sydney to become a nanny & DJ. A move which again helped her forge the skills she would ultimately draw upon for Dekkorate & Dance.

"Being a nanny & an entertainer gave me confidence with children & how to deal with large groups," Nat told Pario. "That experience also gave me a confidence to pursue a dream of dancing, DJing & decorating."

Ultimately Nat said her biggest takeaway from her journey prior to establishing Dekkorate & Dance was that, "we are not defined by our paths in life. You don't necessarily have to go to uni & follow that step by step path, life experiences can also lead you to where you want to be."

According to Nat the most important step in her creative journey came when she spoke with a career coach.

"I worked with a career coach known as Silent Partner Projects & she helped me turn all of my loves, passions & crazy ideas into a business plan.

"During one of my first sessions with her she asked me to write a 'brag list' which was a list of everything that I am good at. That's not a normal thing for anyone to do but when I wrote it all out I was shocked by the endless possibilities that existed."

After realising the endless possibilities that were before her Nat established Dekkorate & Dance, which is a one stop shop for all of your event planning needs.

"We do party & wedding planning, floral arrangements, balloons, decorations & DJing," Nat exuded excitedly. "We bring it all & want all of our events to simply be good fun for everyone from beginning to end."

Reflecting back on some of the past Dekkorate & Dance events Nat said they can be "mentally exhausting" but "seeing the smiles on people's faces makes it all worth it."

As she looks ahead Nat's dream is to "decorate a big festival" but she is also excited to continue to do everything she can.

"Life's a party & any small party feels good!"
