No Murder No Moustache - The Odds Are Stacked Against
Welsh one-man punk-folk artist No Murder No Moustache returns with his new EP, The Odds Are Stacked Against.
Across 7 songs on The Odds Are Stacked Against EP No Murder No Moustache punches out a collection of fast punk tunes with a folk story telling bent.
With this folk story telling aesthetics No MurderNo Moustache manages to cover a multitude of topics. As expected these topics span; bad governments, anti-fascism, & coming together to fight injustice. However, it's not just these expected topics which are explored in these tracks. Listeners will also hear music which delves into video games, being intimidated by teenagers at the skate park, & the conundrum of trying not to be seen a poser.
Thoughout the EP listeners will also hear a lot instruments which wouldn't typically be heard on a punk-rock EP. These include fiddle, ukulele, accordion & banjo. No Murder No moustache also incorporates his Welsh heritage by infusing traditional Welsh language sections, which brings a new dynamism & level of intrigue to the EP.
Despite initially being hesitant about the idea of blending folk with punk & Celtic music I found that The Odds Are Stacked Against to ultimately be a dynamic, interesting & enjoyable EP.
