Master Dater

What happens when you mix The Dating Game with Cards Against Humanity? You get the genius & hilarious Master Dater. When the instructions start with the line “read out loud & in a sexy voice” I knew this was going to be a great addition to game night.

The game consists of ‘Head’ cards, ‘Body’ cards, and ‘Interest’ cards. Interest cards are the goal to collect in the race to become the Master Dater. Interest cards are divided up into 3 categories, Love, Flame, & Spark. To become the Master Dater, a player must collect 5 total cards with at least 1 from each category.

This game starts with everyone taking 3 ‘body’ & 3 ‘head’ cards, concealing their picks so only they can see them. The round starts with the “Sexy Single”, aka the person with the longest fingers in your group. Everyone else will be a dater for the remainder of this turn. Our sexy single draws 3 interest cards & places them face up so everyone can see. Now’s the time for our “Daters” to figure out which character they would like to create by laying out 1 body & 1 head to create their perfect match. This really makes you think of a great story to sell yourself & try to collect those interest cards.

When you pull interest cards that say “Fun Fact: I love doing crimes” or “I’m interested in copyright infringement” I’m sure you will figure out a good tale to swoon the sexy single. I mean, who could resist a Grim Reaper body with a dinosaur head? Once the sexy single distributes their interest cards, which can all go to one person or different people, players will discard their used body & head cards before redrawing to be back at 3 each. This concludes the turn & the person to the left is now the new sexy single.

This game was an awesome additive to our lineup of games for game night. We love no-brainer games, especially when they call for fabricating stories, or straight-up lying to get ahead in a game. This game comes with the standard cards which I think are suitable for anyone 13+. I also received a not-safe-for-work expansion pack for this game, titled the Master Dater: Uncut, & that one got a bit wild, so proceed with caution if there are kiddos around. Overall, if you’re into games that don’t take much effort but are fun when you have a great group of people with you, then definitely check out this “Messed Up Dating Game”.
